Social Security

Most people associate Social Security with retirement; however, Social Security also compensates for disability, which is defined as the inability to work because of any medically determined physical or mental impairment that can be expected to result in death or last for a continuous period of 12 months or more. Although there are some strict rules on what defines a person as "disabled" under Social Security’s rules, there are many conditions that may qualify individuals to receive Social Security Disability benefits and/or Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

At Lopez & Lopez, PA., we have the knowledge and experience to help individuals determine if they may qualify for Social Security Disability benefits. Together, we have tried over 3000 Social Security cases and attorney David Lopez has been retained over 500 times as an expert in Social Security matters. In addition to our attorneys’ experience, we also have a highly trained staff who participate in virtually all of the Social Security cases we handle. Our lead assistant, Sophia Gribbin, has been with David Lopez since 1996 and has an Associate Degree in Legal Assisting from Central Florida Community College. She is also a Certified Legal Assistant and helps prepare the cases from a medical standpoint and has a great understanding of Social Security Law. She has handled claims from the initial application until all benefits have been paid, and continues to oversee our staff in our Social Security Disability department of our firm.

If you are unable to engage in any substantial, gainful activity by reason of any medically determinable physical or mental impairment which can be expected to result in death or which has lasted or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than 12 months, please contact Lopez & Lopez, P.A. for a free consultation. Let our family help your family!
